Background

Eastbury Primary is an aspiring three-form entry school in Barking, Essex lead by visionary headteacher Leigh Hovey. As part of the school’s relentless drive to raise standards and bring together its international school community, the school approached SoVibrant to assist in delivering a new visual identity and interior refurbishment scheme for its premises.

To ensure that the school was getting the maximum benefit from its current facilities, a strategic report and accommodation strategy was commissioned to determine which areas of the school would benefit most from investment and to create a long term strategy for improvement within these areas.

The Challenge

To create a new inclusive brand proposition to capture the school’s ethos, values and to help forge stronger links with the wider school community.

To design and implement the new brand identity in to both print and digital collateral.

To undertake a holistic strategic overview of the school’s accommodation and refurbishment strategy, maximising the potential of its property and facilities.

To redevelop the school’s internal and external signage and way-finding strategy including the installation of new signage throughout the grounds.

To connect the new visual identity to the physical environment by relocating the main school entrance and developing a new reception area.

The Results

The results have been tangible, with the new brand identity clearly communicating the school’s new values, culture and aspirations, through all of its touchpoints with the children, staff and the wider community.

The inspirational reception scheme has set the benchmark standard for all future refurbishments within the school and has encouraged stronger links with the local community by creating an entrance that opens into the heart of the local community and provides an exciting and welcoming atmosphere.

Combined with the continued hard work of the headteacher and staff at the school the work has gone on to play a contributory factor in the school’s rapid improvement, helping to galvanise the school community and make a fantastic impression. The school received Ofsted ‘good’ in its recent inspection reflecting its latest successes and improvements.
